One year after its launch at COP28, the Coalition for High Ambition Multilevel Partnerships (CHAMP) for Climate Action brings together 74 national governments. Each has committed to work with subnational governments on national climate plans and strategies. In this webinar, held ahead of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Local Governments and Municipal Authorities (LGMA) Constituency and partners cover:
- What CHAMP is and the six commitments endorsing countries have made
- Progress so far, with examples from Brazil, Colombia, Morocco, and the Republic of Korea
- How CHAMP connects to the LGMA joint position for COP29
- CHAMP events at COP29, links to the negotiations, and the road to COP30 in Belém, Brazil
- How local and regional governments can push for new endorsements and stronger, more inclusive nationally determined contributions (NDCs).
